CDM Smith Employee Wellness Program Achieves $1 Million in Charity Donations
BOSTON—Participants in CDM Smith’s employee Wellness Program made another $50,000 in charitable donations possible as part of the firm’s award-winning Wellness Program. CDM Smith gave $25,000 each to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. Since the program’s start in 2017, the firm has donated $1 million to 46 organizations.
This round of contributions was a result of the points earned by program participants during the second quarter of 2022 through activities that support both physical and mental well-being. In addition to supporting wellness-related charities, CDM Smith’s employee Wellness Program seeks organizations that support the firm’s DE&I efforts.
“We’re proud to support these organizations whose missions aim to make the world a better place by improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families and cancer patients receiving innovative treatments,” said Carlos Echalar, CDM Smith Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are also thrilled to recognize that these two donations have brought our Wellness Program giving total to $1 million.”
Here’s how the donations are making an impact…
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides “a different kind of healing” to children with serious illnesses and their families through year-round programs celebrating the fun, friendship and spirit of childhood. The organization offers overnight camp experiences as well as off-site family and hospital programming. Hole in the Wall serves more than 20,000 children and family members annually throughout the U.S. Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. CDM Smith employees’ contribution of $25,000 will send 10 children to camp for an unforgettable week of joy and connection.
UF Health Proton Therapy Institute
As a world-class cancer treatment center and part of the Southeast’s most comprehensive academic health center, the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute’s mission is to help patients in Jacksonville, Florida and around the world beat cancer and live life to the fullest. The Institute has treated more than 10,000 patients and over 20 types of cancer with its proton therapy, an advanced form of radiation that supports better quality of life during and after treatment. CDM Smith’s $25,000 donation will help fund vital research and improve cancer care for all.
