As a passionate advocate for public health, Joe believes that access to clean and safe drinking water is a basic human right and is committed to making a difference in this field. “I am inspired by the desire to improve public health and people's everyday lives, in my own small way.” He takes great pride in working collaboratively with clients to solve complex challenges with sustainable, operable solutions. Getting his hands dirty leading pilot testing of new processes or troubleshooting treatment issues with plant operators in the field is his passion, and using these experiences to improve the design of future water treatment plants.
Throughout his career, Joe has volunteered with professional organizations such as AWWA and worked on many challenging projects, but he is particularly proud of his work over the years with a small groundwater system in Delaware. In this project, he was able to help the community overcome difficult water quality challenges during periods of high demand, while also mitigating any unintended consequences on water quality during low demand periods. This project is a testament to Joe's exceptional technical skills, as well as his ability to work collaboratively with clients to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Innovative approaches like there are critical as he works with clients in the Eastern US managing long-term risks, costs, and compliance with PFAS drinking water regulations.
Joe is a knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated leader who is committed to improving public health and the environment through his work at CDM Smith. His technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to his clients make him invaluable to CDM Smith and the communities it serves.
