Brent Johnson, PE
“I love helping clients find and fix their problem spots throughout their distribution and collections systems,” says pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation discipline leader Brent Johnson. He is also an expert in collection system planning, infiltration and inflow studies and trenchless technology.
Brent’s current focus lies in the rehabilitation of existing water distribution and wastewater collection systems with a special emphasis on the use of trenchless technologies to reduce not only cost, but construction time, too.
Brent has worked across the United States to provide cost-effective water and sewer rehabilitation recommendations and designs. His knack for pipeline condition assessments is only fortified by his passion for his work. “CDM Smith specializes in utilizing both the interests and talents of an employee to maximize our delivery to the client,” he says.
His most recent efforts in North Carolina involve developing a prioritization framework for his client that identifies the linear infrastructure most in need of inspection, rehabilitation or replacement. This framework also incorporates risk aversion methodology to evaluate likelihood of success, consequences of failure, and overall risk for all water distribution and sewer collection assets using Innovyze’s InfoMaster software. This framework Brent developed was a success and is now being deployed for the rest of the client’s linear assets.
