Christopher K. Varnon, PE
Chris Varnon, environmental engineer, has about two decades of experience in environmental engineering consulting for municipal and industrial clients. His varied expertise has even led to receiving professional accolades, such as the Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award for service to Water For People.
He has worked on projects ranging from municipal wastewater treatment plant design and construction administration to industrial wastewater treatment plant design, municipal and industrial discharge permitting, including air emissions permitting, water treatment plant design, and stormwater pollution prevention. He also serves as the firm’s discipline leader for preliminary treatment.
Chris is inspired by witnessing a project functioning well and serving the surrounding communities, and his favorite aspect of his work is “getting to collaborate with the highly talented subject matter experts in the firm and progressing my understanding of the industry,” he says.
“I enjoy working for a highly reputable and well-established firm in the water and environmental consulting industry that provides opportunities to work on impactful projects around the country, as well as being part of a working culture that embraces and embodies all of CDM Smith's core values,” he says about his experience.
My favorite part of the job is getting to collaborate with the highly talented subject matter experts in the firm and progress my understanding of the industry.
