Bill Mason
Bill Mason is an environmental engineer with over 20 years of experience in designing and constructing water and wastewater treatment plant projects. He also brings expertise in designing pump stations and open-cut sanitary sewer replacements. His technical background and dedication to his craft have contributed to the success of many critical infrastructure projects.
“I came to CDM Smith straight out of college and am still here because of my wonderful coworkers,” he shares. His role as civil discipline lead allows him to collaborate with talented individuals across the firm, drawing on their experiences to solve complex engineering challenges. He finds inspiration in these daily interactions, always eager to learn from his peers and apply their knowledge to the unique problems each project presents.
“No two projects are ever the same, and every day is an opportunity to learn something new,” he says. The variety in his work keeps him engaged, allowing him to explore new technologies and methodologies while continually expanding his skill set.
One of Bill’s proudest accomplishments is the design and construction of the Neuse Regional Water Treatment Plant in Kinston, North Carolina. This regional facility addressed a pressing need for a high-quality water source in eastern North Carolina. “The result was so positive that the client has been coming back to us again and again with all of their additional design work,” Bill notes, emphasizing the lasting impact of the project on both the community and his professional journey.
