Brian Karmasin, PE, BCEE
Brian Karmasin is a senior environmental engineer with over two decades of experience in wastewater system design. He finds inspiration in being part of the solution in all aspects of a project’s life. “There is nothing more rewarding to me to hear a client say that they are happy with how well things went during construction and that the operations staff is happy with what was given to them,” he says.
Brian has acted as the project manager or design manager of numerous projects, gaining experience in all aspects of planning, evaluating, designing, permitting, bidding, and constructing municipal wastewater treatment facilities. He is proudest of the multiple projects he has done for Lee County Utilities. “The teamwork between the county, CDM Smith, and the contractors has been great,” he says. “It’s really amazing to see the power of everyone working collaboratively together to create something special.”
Brian’s favorite part of the job is collaborating with peers, mentoring junior staff, and being able to come up with creative solutions to challenging problems. “I chose CDM Smith because I enjoy the challenging project opportunities they provide, along with the chance to work with really great people,” he says.
