Ahmad Habibian Receives ASCE Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award

RESTON, Va.— Dr. Ahmad Habibian was recently honored with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award for his outstanding achieve­ments in the engineering profession. This award recognizes a member of the ASCE who has made a significant contri­bu­tion to the advancement of pipeline engineering in research, planning, design or construc­tion.

 

Dr. Habibian currently serves as CDM Smith vice president and global practice leader for water conveyance. He specializes in infra­struc­ture management, pipeline assessment and reha­bil­i­ta­tion, and trenchless technology.

 

He is the editor-in-chief of the ASCE Journal of Pipeline Systems Engineering & Practice, founding chair of the ASCE’s Technical Committee for Trenchless Instal­la­tion of Pipelines (TIPS), and founding chair of the Underground Pipelines Asset Management Committee (UPAM). Dr. Habibian has also served in leadership positions at the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and was a trustee of the AWWA Distri­b­u­tion and Plant Operations & Maintenance Division from 2009-2015.
