“I find meaning in working in the environmental field, where the result of my labor is a cleaner environment and more abundant water resources,” says Anthony Zamarro, discipline leader for membrane bioreactors (MBR) at CDM Smith.
Anthony joins the firm with over two decades of expertise in membrane technology and treatment systems. He has extensive experience in system design, value engineering, system startup, and process troubleshooting. He has also been involved in the application of MBR systems for advanced treatment trains, including indirect and direct potable reuse applications.
Esteemed in his industry, Anthony is a frequent presenter on MBR topics and instructs the annual Membranes 101 Workshop before WEFTEC to help stakeholders understand the products and technology behind reuse applications. He also instructs the Membrane Operator Certification course that certifies new MBR system operators.
Before joining the firm, Anthony led the design for an advanced MBR system at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s Pure Water Demonstration Plant, a groundbreaking effort to demonstrate the ability of MBR technology to remove pathogens from incoming wastewater. He was also integral to the Bee Ridge Wastewater Treatment Facility MBR project in Sarasota, Florida, the largest MBR plant in the state.
