Kimberly Drake Appointed Chair of Massachusetts Board of Registration of Landscape Architects
BOSTON—CDM Smith is pleased to announce that senior landscape architect Kimberly Drake, RLA was appointed chair of the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Landscape Architects. She was originally appointed to the board by Governor Deval Patrick in 2013 after serving on the national Council of Landscape Architectural Licensing Boards for several years.
She has managed a wide range of projects including public parks, athletic facilities, open space planning for universities, green infrastructure and sustainable design, and site design for municipal infrastructure including treatment and public works facilities. Drake’s work also includes several assignments providing FEMA disaster assistance. She has assisted in the technical mentoring and career development for more than 20 Landscape Architects at CDM Smith throughout her career.
“Serving as chair of the board provides an opportunity to have a greater role in updating our regulations,” said Drake. “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to better reflect the current state of the profession and facilitate consistency with similar boards from other states.”
"Kim has mastered interdisciplinary collaboration and provided leadership on a wide array of projects," said Glenn Howard, RLA, CDM Smith associate and manager of the firm's landscape architecture team. "In this role, she will help support the integrity and professionalism of our practice."
The Board of Registration of Landscape Architects protects the public through the regulation of the title of “Landscape Architect” in Massachusetts. They grant licenses to those qualified and establish regulations to ensure the integrity and competence of licensees.
