September 26, 2022

MANCHESTER, N.H. – CDM Smith is excited to announce that Al LeBlanc, senior vice president and drinking water treatment discipline leader, has received the 2022 Award of Merit from the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA). This award is designated for a member of the association who has demonstrated the highest level of outstanding services to NEWWA, a water utility, the water works practice, or any combination thereof.

In his nearly three decades with CDM Smith, LeBlanc has worked on a wide variety of projects with an ultimate focus on drinking water. LeBlanc is also active in CDM Smith’s Career Compass mentoring program, in which he helps guide other CDM Smith employees. In addition to his work at CDM Smith, LeBlanc served as chair of the NEWWA Filtration Committee for eight years and is presently the vice chair of the American Water Works Association’s Sustainable Infrastructure Committee.

“New England Water Works Association is truly a community—it's a great platform to exchange industry insights and continue one's education,” said LeBlanc. “Immersing in committee work and symposium planning through the years makes one realize what high quality people we have in this industry. It’s very gratifying to have been nominated by industry peers outside of CDM Smith.”

The fact that he continues to lead at this level while selflessly mentoring an entire generation of water treatment professionals makes him all the more deserving of this award.

“Though it has been noted for years within CDM Smith that Al’s contributions to our drinking water clients and projects are unsurpassed, this recognition is proof that these sentiments are felt across the industry," said CDM Smith vice president and senior environmental engineer Ben Mosher. "The fact that he continues to lead at this level while selflessly mentoring an entire generation of water treatment professionals makes him all the more deserving of this award.”
