Pipeline Expert Sri Rajah Wins ASCE Award of Excellence

The award is given annually to ASCE members who are determined by the executive committee of the Pipeline Division to have given outstanding continuous and conspicuous service.

BELLEVUE, Wash.—CDM Smith is pleased to congrat­u­late Sri Rajah, Ph.D., PE, GE, SE, PEng, F.ASCE on being awarded the Award of Excellence of the Pipeline Division from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The award is given annually to ASCE members who are determined by the executive committee of the Pipeline Division to have given outstanding continuous and conspicuous service to the profession, ASCE and the Pipeline Division.

Dr. Rajah is a principal engineer with CDM Smith and the firm’s discipline leader for seismic analysis and design. He is a recognized leader within the pipeline industry, with over three decades of experience in the field. Dr. Rajah has worked in the areas of analysis, design, evaluation, and failure inves­ti­ga­tions of a variety of underground and above-ground hydraulic structures, which include gravity and pressure conveyance pipelines and tunnels, high pressure pipelines and penstocks, and dams. He has led the designs of unique, complex, and award-winning projects throughout North America.

Dr. Rajah’s involvement with ASCE has been extensive. He has held several leadership positions with the orga­ni­za­tion, and currently serves as chair of the ASCE Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI) Standards and Publi­ca­tions Council, chair of the Pipeline Location and Instal­la­tion (PLI) Technical Committee of UESI, and chair of the UESI Task Committee on Seismic Design of Buried Water/Wastewater Pipelines.
