KNOXVILLE, T.N. - CDM Smith is pleased to announce that William H. (Hollis) Loveday, PE was recently named recipient of the Southern District Institute of Transportation Engineers' (SDITE) 2020 Herman J. Hoose Distinguished Service Award. Loveday accepted his award at the virtual SDITE annual meeting in April.

“I was shocked and humbled to hear my name called out as the recipient of this award,” said Loveday. “To be associated with the award's namesake, a pioneer in our industry, and past recipients is an honor. Many know that I am passionate about ITE, so to be selected for the Herman J. Hoose award is exciting.”

In 2007, Loveday cohosted the SDITE Annual Meeting in Knoxville, Tenn., and he has chaired the annual meeting manual committee. Currently, he is leading an effort to update SDITE’s strategic plan.

“There are few individuals in the transportation engineering industry where you can simply say a first name only, and everyone knows who you are referring to,” said project manager Chris Kirby, PE, PMP. “Hollis is one of those individuals, a leader of leaders who transcends the boundaries of workplace, organization, and geography.”
