Alfredo Rodriguez Honored as RMSAWWA Volunteer of the Year

The award highlights volunteers who put in extraordinary effort into supporting the mission of the organization.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—CDM Smith is pleased to announce that envi­ron­men­tal engineer Alfredo Rodriguez was recently named the 2021 Volunteer of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA). This award highlights volunteers who put in extra­or­di­nary effort into supporting the mission of the orga­ni­za­tion.

Rodriguez originally joined RMSAWWA in 2017 and now currently serves as co-chair of the New Mexico Water Committee. As co-chair, he invests his time into planning events to provide training, education, and networking oppor­tu­ni­ties for water profes­sion­als in New Mexico. He was also recently appointed as voting member to the Standards Committee on Stormwater Utility Management of AWWA and will be moderating a session at AWWA’s national conference in June of 2022. Addi­tion­ally, he volunteers at the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association (RMWEA) through the Collection Systems Committee and the Commu­ni­ca­tions Committee.

His experience as an envi­ron­men­tal engineer includes the hydraulic modeling of wastewater collection systems and infra­struc­ture for master planning projects, as well as testing flow conditions on existing and future scenarios. He’s worked on many projects related to groundwater quality monitoring, stormwater compliance, and water/wastewater treatment facilities design and construc­tion.

“Volun­teer­ing at RMSAWWA is an additional way for me to pursue my passion for water engineering and to contribute to protecting and managing water resources in our communities,” said Rodriguez. “To be recognized with this award makes me feel honored and fulfilled because it means my work has had positive results that benefit people, and it has contributed to creating connections and sharing water knowledge.”
