CDM Smith Wins First Place in Three Categories at 2020 SMPS Boston Awards
BOSTON—CDM Smith was honored by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Boston chapter with three first place awards at its 2020 virtual awards gala. The awards are presented to the firms and individuals who made the most distinguished contributions in the marketing realm for the Boston-area architecture, engineering and construction industry in 2019-2020.
The 2020 awards marked the sixth straight year CDM Smith has won the top honor in the Brand Awareness Campaign category. Campaigns submitted to this category must take place over an extended period of time to promote a firm’s brand awareness and include a combination of tactics and media, as well as implementation strategies. The firm took first place for the Environmental Edge campaign, which effectively promoted its robust expertise in the environmental market with website and social media content, webinars, videos and more. Judges’ remarks were “very well planned and executed, with each element working together to clearly position CDM Smith as a leader in the field!”
CDM Smith earned first place in the Internal Communications category for the Ignite the Brand campaign. This category recognizes any print or digital communications intended for an employee audience. CDM Smith’s winning entry included internal communications reinforcing the firm’s four brand differentiators and challenging employees to capture their individual brand stories using six words or less. Judges’ comments included, “Awesome, comprehensive, thoughtful campaign that successfully met its objectives! This was the best award submission I reviewed this year.”
CDM Smith’s Troubled Waters: The Fight Against PFAS won first place in the Video category. The documentary short investigates a ubiquitous group of chemical compounds, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and reveals the ongoing efforts to remove them from our drinking water. The video has more than 6,800 views to date and has helped drive hundreds of client newsletter signups and contributed to over $300,000 in new PFAS work for the firm. Judges noted, “The research and planning that went into this are impressive and the end result achieved all your objectives and more.”
