“My biggest motivation is using my unique professional background to develop projects that serve all building occupants and stakeholders, including those who must maintain the built environment,” says Bob Cheval, transportation expert. “In my professional opinion, the ‘greenest’ design is the design that can be maintained with the least amount of effort for the longest time. A structure that can last generations has a smaller ecological footprint than a structure that only lasts 20 years.”
Bob is a licensed architect with nearly two decades of experience and flexes a successful background producing technical content and managing complex, multidisciplinary teams for major facilities projects. He also has hands-on practical experience with rail and bus facilities operations, maintenance, and equipment.
“My favorite part of my job is working with contractors to troubleshoot and problem-solve in the field. The greatest feeling in the world to me is being part of a multidisciplinary team and contributing to a project that is built,” he says.
“Each new project is an opportunity to utilize new technologies, theories of organization, or methods of construction that enrich my professional experience and knowledge base,” Bob says. As facilities look to modernize and comply with new and ever-evolving regulations, his knowledge of standards and expertise in developing long-term, sustainable solutions are critical.
