Jim Meyer Named Chair of ASME Mechanical Design Committee
WADSWORTH, Ohio—CDM Smith is pleased to announce that Jim Meyer, PE, has been named chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ (ASME) mechanical design committee. Meyer recently took over as interim chair and will begin a new 3-year term effective June 30, 2018.
Meyer is an industrial piping expert at CDM Smith’s subsidiary, the Louis Perry Group, with more than 40 years of industry experience. As chair of the mechanical design committee, Meyer is responsible for facilitating committee meetings and collaborating with industry experts on a global scale to review and improve existing practices and policies across engineering disciplines.
“The goal is to keep moving forward,” says Meyer. “Perpetuating the energy our members feel toward advancing policies and practices worldwide is the key to continuing industry progress.”
Meyer has been involved with ASME for four decades. He currently chairs the society’s B31 standards committee for piping and participates on the Board of Pressure Technology Codes and Standards.
“ASME brings experts from around the globe together,” explains Meyer. “Not only does it provide great networking opportunities, but it encourages the exchange and challenge of ideas across organizations and cultures. I’m proud carry on that spirit as part of this new role.”
