Tunnelling is one of CDM Smith’s core competencies. Our geologists and tunnel engineers understand the interaction between the foundation, groundwater and tunnel construction and support you in all project phases: from track determination to project planning for tunnel driving and tunnel construction, to construction supervision and project management. Our certified tunnel engineers are at your disposal during inspections and control tasks.

Who We Work With

Range of Services
We plan tunnels, shaft constructions and caverns in rock and loose rocks, in open and in mining technique. Experienced in conventional and mechanical driving, we realise underground facilities of all dimensions: for subways and railways, for road transport, for energy supply and telecommunications as well as for municipal or regional supply and disposal tasks.

Competence & Experience
With many years of experience, we are designing special constructional measures such as injections for building safety or ground water table lowering in order to improve execution reliability and driving performance. With ground freezing technology and other special construction methods, we also master difficult ground conditions in groundwater or in confined urban areas.
