Marcus is recognised as one of Queensland’s leading applied economists having twenty years professional experience in the areas of regional economic development, forecasting, property economics, economic impact analysis and economic evaluation of private and public-sector projects. His experience as a practicing economist covers a mix of corporate and consulting roles. Marcus regularly acts as an expert witness provide need and economics evidence within various courts within Queensland.
Marcus spent much of his early consulting career specialising in project evaluation and policy appraisal, but as he progressed through his career he became increasingly interested in how economics could support other disciplines in improving community well-being.
Today, Marcus works with all levels of government, the private sector and non-government organisations by applying economic techniques to enhance decision making and solution development. Marcus relishes the opportunity to support other disciplines by providing economic advice to better respond to market needs and policy objectives. In 2016, Marcus was appointed to the Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel, having previously served two terms on the Queensland Government Board for Urban Places
