How Florida Figured Out Freight
With transportation policies and investments to increase local and global trade
CDM Smith partnered with the Florida Department of Transportation's Office of Freight, Logistics and Passenger Operations to develop the state's Freight Mobility and Trade Plan. Prompted by Florida House Bill 599 and the expected expansion of the Panama Canal by 2015, the plan aims to strengthen Florida's domestic and international trade through strategic policies and investments and improvements to integrated multimodal infrastructure.
Through more efficient and less costly movement of goods, Florida expects to see a surge in manufacturing across the state. In addition to preparing the plan, CDM Smith was very active in public outreach, hosting listening sessions for both public and private stakeholders to understand their freight needs.
