Scholarship Program

To support the ongoing growth and development of the consulting, engineering, construction, and operations industry, we partner with several universities and associations to fund scholarships for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. With these programs, CDM Smith strives to foster the education and career opportunities of our industry's future leaders.

Current opportunities include:

American Water Works Association (AWWA) Thomas R. Camp Scholarship

The Thomas R. Camp Scholarship provides support to outstanding students doing applied research in the drinking water field. The $5,000, one-time grant is awarded to doctoral students in even years and master's students in odd years.

For more information, or to download an application, please visit the AWWA website. The deadline for application is January 15, annually.

Lawler Scholarship (Northeastern University)

Our Lawler Scholarship was established in memory of Joseph C. Lawler—one of the firm's most forward-thinking CEOs and a staunch supporter of his alma mater, Northeastern University.

The university's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department considers the Lawler Scholarship its most prestigious scholarship offering. Each year, the department selects the undergraduate students who will receive the scholarship.

National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) CDM Smith Scholarship

We sponsor a $5,000 scholarship to assist the NFBPA in its mission of attracting the best and brightest African Americans to careers in public service. The scholarship is awarded to an African-American graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a career in public administration, urban affairs, or a related public service field.

Applications must be submitted to the NFBPA National Office. For more information, please contact the office at 202 408-9300, or visit the NFBPA website for eligibility criteria and submission procedures.
