Dick Fox Richard D. Fox, PE, BCEE, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, has more than 40 years of broad engineering, program, and executive management experience, including large-scale infrastructure programs and the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. Dick advanced from the leadership of the CDM Smith’s program management practice to head CDM Smith’s international operations, and then to President of the firm before taking the helm as Chairman and CEO. He has also guided CDM Smith’s comprehensive leadership development program for advanced and emerging leaders. John Manning John D. Manning, President and Chief Operating Officer, began his career of more than 40 years as an engineering officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine, then moved into the consulting industry and specialized in instrumentation and control systems for power, water, and transportation facilities. He joined CDM Smith in 1976 and advanced through the management of the firm’s most complex process and controls projects to lead the firm’s global consulting and engineering divisions. In 2009, he became CDM Smith’s President and Chief Operation Officer. Paul Brown Paul R. Brown, AICP, Global Market Development and Chief Marketing Officer, directs CDM Smith’s market strategy and sales management worldwide. He has more than 30 years of experience in project development, project finance, and the planning and management of public utilities and environmental facilities. He has also developed and implemented integrated resource plans and facilitated stakeholder involvement to help communities provide sustainable solutions for growth and economic development as “Cities of the Future.” Most recently, Paul led CDM Smith’s public services for clients in state, regional, and local governments across the United States. Paul Camell Paul G. Camell, Executive Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions and Chief Administrative Officer, has led CDM Smith’s mergers and acquisitions since 1972 and has participated in over 50 completed transactions worldwide. He is also responsible for the executive leadership of the corporate departments for facilities; finance, accounting, tax and treasury; human resources; and information technology. Alex Makled Alex Makled, Executive Vice President, has more than 25 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering and management. He led CDM Smith’s Europe, Middle East & Africa Group with a staff of 800 employees in 11 countries. Makled holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Paul Shea Paul R Shea, PE, BCEE, DBIA, Group President, Construction Division, has more than 40 years of experience managing major environmental and general infrastructure design and construction projects throughout the world. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont and a master's degree in sanitary engineering from the University of Connecticut. Steve Smith M. Stevenson Smith, PE, Executive Vice President, has nearly 40 years of experience with CDM Smith. Steve joined our predecessor firm, Wilbur Smith Associates, after graduating from the University of South Carolina’s engineering department. Starting as a transportation engineer, he worked his way through the company where he directed the Southern Region domestic activities, including highway and bridge design, program management, traffic engineering and aviation projects, before working his way to senior vice president managing national operating divisions including Aviation, Rail, Transit, Transportation Planning & Policy, Transportation Economics, Finance and Freight. Willie Vicens Guillermo J. Vicens, Ph.D., PE, BCEE, Group President, Consulting and Engineering Divisions, is responsible for management oversight of 10 technical service divisions, including a staff of more than 2,300 highly experienced professionals. The divisions cover the full spectrum of services provided by the firm, including water, wastewater, water resources, solid waste, hazardous waste and remediation, transportation, utility management and operations consulting, automation and information management, air quality, geotechnical engineering, and facility architectural and engineering design services. Tim Wall Tim Wall, Executive Vice President, has more than 20 years of experience in environmental program and enterprise management. He led the firm's Federal Services Group, providing solutions to departments and agencies of the United States federal government, including the Bureau of Reclamation; the Departments of Defense, Energy, Homeland Security and Transportation; the Environmental Protection Agency; and the Federal Emergency Management Agency around the world. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Tufts University and an MBA from Boston College.
