Sicherung der Berghalde der ehemaligen Schachtanlage Graf Moltke, Gladbeck Brauck
Das Steinkohlebergwerk Graf Moltke in Gladbeck wurde 1971 stillgelegt. Zur Schachtanlage gehört die Bergehalde 1 mit einer Grundfläche von rund 16 ha und einer Gesamthöhe von etwa 40 bis 50 m über Gelände. Die im Abraum vorhandene Restkohle hatte sich Ende der 70er Jahre selbst entzündet und seitdem gilt die Halde als brennende Halde. Die Südostböschung hat neben mehreren Brandstellen erhebliche Standsicherheitsdefizite. Der Sicherungsplan der Böschung beinhaltet das Erstellen mehrstufiger Stützbauwerke (Spundwand, begrünbare Steilwand, Gabionenwand) in Kombination mit einer aus brandschutztechnischer Sicht erforderlichen mineralischen Oberflächenabdichtung. Unsere Aufgabe besteht in der geotechnischen und brandschutztechnischen Bauüberwachung sowie in der entsprechenden fachgutachterlichen Begleitung der Gesamtmaßnahme.

Sanierung Thorium-kontaminierter Gebäudesubstanz in Oberhausen
Bei Reparaturarbeiten im Jahr 2009 wurden in einem chemischen Industriebetrieb Kontaminationen mit Radionukliden der Th-232-Zerfallsreihe im Bereich eines Einstelltanks festgestellt. Nach weiteren Untersuchungen wurden im gesamten Gebäudekomplex Thorium- Kontaminationen an der vorhandenen Bausubstanz, („Alte“ Riffelbleche, Stahlträger, Gehwegplatten und Wandbereiche) sowie an Anlagenteilen und Installationen entdeckt. Ursache der Kontamination war mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit der Einsatz von Thoriumdioxid als Katalysator bei der Fischer- Tropsch-Synthese zur Herstellung von Kraftstoffen im zweiten Weltkrieg. Zur Sicherstellung einer angemessenen und ordnungsgemäßen Sanierung wurde die ARGE CDM Smith und die aek atomic engineers GmbH mit den gutachterlichen Leistungen für einen Sanierungsplan bei laufendem Produktionsbetrieb beauftragt.

West Island Line, Hong Kong
In Hong Kong werden mit der West Island- und der South Island Line mehrere Erweiterungen der Island Line als Bestandteil der örtlichen Metro gebaut. Diese sind in Baulose unterteilt und werden von unterschiedlichen Konsortien geplant und gebaut. Derzeit arbeiten wir an den Losen Contract 704 und 826 mit gefriertechnischen Laboruntersuchungen, um Planungsparameter für die erforderlichen wärmetechnischen und statischen Berechnungen zu ermitteln. Die jeweiligen Vereisungen dienen sowohl zur Sicherung von Querschlägen zwischen den beiden Tunnelstrecken als auch zur Sicherung von Vorabmaßnahmen in der geplanten Schildspur. Hier müssen z. B. alte Stahlpfähle vorab geborgen werden. Auftraggeber für CDM Smith sind ein chinesisches JV unter Führung von China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd. und ein japanisch-chinesisches JV bestehend aus den Firmen Gammon und Nishimatsu.

Reform des Wasser- und Abwasserprogramms im Libanon
Im Auftrag der United States Agency for International Development (USAID) unterstützen wir seit 2009 das libanesische Ministerium für Energie und Wasser sowie die vier regionalen Wasser- und Abwasserunternehmen bei der Verbesserung der Wasserqualität im Litani Flussgebiet. Mit dem Nachfolgeauftrag „Phase II“ für die Konstruktion der in der ersten Projektphase geplanten Anlagen bauen wir unsere Marktposition weiter aus. Wir sind für allgemeine Ingenieurleistungen in der Bauphase, Prüfung und Genehmigung technischer Dokumente, Überprüfung/Inspektion und für die Endabnahme der Anlagen und Baumaßnahmen verantwortlich. Hinzu kommt ein Zusatzauftrag für die Pumpstation/ Brunnensanierung der südlibanesischen Wasserbehörde, die Planung der Sanierungsarbeiten, die Bauüberwachung sowie die Bewertung und Empfehlung von Änderungsaufträgen. Unsere Erfolgsgeschichte im Libanon, die mit dem Projekt Small Village Wastewater Treatment Systems begann, setzt sich damit fort.

Umwelttechnische Standortbewertung, Südafrika
Am Standort eines Industrieunternehmens in Brits, Südafrika, erstellte CDM Smith im Dezember 2010 eine Umwelt Due-Diligence Prüfung (Phase I). Anlass ist die langfristige Integration bestehender Produktionsstätten in das Corporate Environmental Safety & Health System. Auf Grundlage der zweitägigen Standortbewertung, die sowohl die Einhaltung von Umweltschutzvorschriften als auch die Gefährdung von Boden und Grundwasser aufgrund der früheren Nutzung beinhaltete, erstellten wir ein vorläufiges Untersuchungskonzept (Phase IIa). Im Februar 2012 untersuchte das von uns beauftragte Bohrunternehmen die geologischen und hydrogeologischen Verhältnisse am Standort und traf eine Vorauswahl der lokalen Bohrfirmen. Die weiter geplanten Maßnahmen umfassen einen 100-stündigen Pumpversuch an den Standortmessstellen und die Ausarbeitung der Phase IIb- Ausschreibung.

Planung einer Kläranlage in Konstancin-Jeziorna, Polen
Konstancin-Jeziorna ist eine Stadt mit rund 23.000 Einwohnern 20 km südlich von Warschau. Die dortige Kläranlage wurde in den 60er Jahren für den finnischen Papierhersteller Metsä Tissue gebaut. Sie behandelt auch nahezu das gesamte Abwasser der Gemeinde. Der neue Betreiber Saur Horyzont S.A. ist ein Tochterunternehmen des weltweit tätigen französischen Unternehmens SAUR. CDM Smith in Warschau wurde mit der Planung einer neuen Kläranlage mit einer Kapazität von 6.000 m³/d in der Nähe der bestehenden Anlage beauftragt. Angesichts des gering tragfähigen Untergrunds ist für die meisten Anlagenteile eine Pfahlgründung notwendig. Insgesamt werden rund 1.000 Pfähle mit einer Tiefe von mehr als 10 m eingebracht. Zusätzlich sind wir mit der Planung der Zufahrtsstraßen beauftragt.
